Adventures of E.A. Season

9th in a series.

Late in the fall of ’55 three hundred Indians settled down for the winter about one mile from Uncle’s in the Little Cannon River. They lived by hunting. I used to go to their camps often and some of the Indians would be at Uncle’s quite often. We had a long cold winter and spring was a long time coming. We did a lot more plowing and split rails enough to enclose a large lot during the summer.

The Native Americans Edwin referred to were Dakota. To learn more about the Dakota and the settlement of Goodhue County, MN go to https://www.dibblehistory.org/history4.htm. Photo courtesy https://www.dibblehistory.org/history4.htm
