John R. Walker will be the speaker at our first member meeting of 2014. Walker will discuss his book Bracketing the Enemy: Forward Observers in World War II, published in August 2013. The book details the history of artillery forward observation usage, which began with the Civil War. The author uses two units in which his father served as examples in the book. Walker, a resident of Stow, became interested in history after he began studying genealogy and discovered that three of his family members served in Company B of the 104th Ohio Volunteer Infantry in the Civil War. Please join other members and guests for this fascinating program. Monday, March 24th at 7:00 p.m. at Stow City Hall Boards and Commission Room. Mr. Walker will have copies of his book for sale. They are also for sale on Amazon. at http://www.amazon.com/Bracketing-Enemy-Forward-Observers-World/dp/0806143800/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1390077715&sr=8-1&keywords=bracketing+the+enemy
