Stow Historical Society members enjoy a variety of educational and entertaining programs at their meetings. If you are interested in presenting a program to the Society, please contact program chairman Meredith Morgan at twobackpackers@frontier.com. Programs are free of charge and open to the public.

Richard Grell and his family grew up on Norton Road and will presenting information on what it was like to grow up there as well as raising farm animals, working with other local families like the Ritchies, the Darrows and others. Richard may also talk a bit about being a master chair maker as well… he plans to have one of the Darrow family there with him too! You will not want to miss this one!

Historic Markers in Ohio: Denny Reiser

Do you know about the Ohio History markers in your town and/or in your county?
With the help of some historical markers, Stow resident and local historian Denny Reiser will share with you stories about some of the people, the places, and the events that have put a mark on our state history.
The Ohio Historical Marker Program is more than just metal markers scattered along our roadways. It is an educational tool, it is a means of telling community stories and it give the traveler a “sense of place”.

Join us for the first Stow Historical Society program meeting of 2024! Our program, Abolition Restoration Cemetery Workshop, will be presented by cultural heritage archaeologist Michael Lucas. Mr. Lucas is a Kent State University alum and has been working as a Cultural Resource Management archaeologist for ten years.
